While we were expecting these companies to produce some of the best devices in the year 2023, the road seems a bit difficult for these brands. A report suggested that the Chinese smartphone-producing brands are holding back on their expenses already. They are undoubtedly market leaders, but the brands are still encountering macroeconomic headwinds coupled with scrutiny from the Indian government over serious accusations of money laundering and tax fraud.
What are the plans of Chinese smartphone-producing brands in 2023?
Well, it seems like 2023 holds serious disappointment for Chinese smartphone brands. These companies have already started removing their workforce due to the fears they have. It is said that the brands will cut down their budget on marketing to make the operational expenses lower. A report by Economic Times mentioned that according to IDC India associate vice president Navkendar Singh, the Chinese brands are feeling the pressure of the economic slowdown, decreasing demand, topped with government scrutiny in India. Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo are already facing scrutiny from the Indian government due to tax and monetary payment irregularity. Because of all this, ISC India has predicted that a decline of 8 to 9 percent will be seen in 2022’s last quarter. Randstad India’s Sanjay Shetty said that these Chinese brands had fired around 600 to 800 employees due to volatile economic conditions. The reduction in the workforce is expected to skyrocket in the upcoming year. However, we will wait for an official confirmation regarding the plans of these brands. Expectations are that we will get to know more about the same at the beginning of 2023.
