Elon Musk’s vision is hard to achieve. A number of spacecraft were tested and blasted before declaring them perfect. The Starship SN1 is a massive vertical launch-vertical land system that’s created specified for deep space mission into Moon, Mars and others. On February 28th, SpaceX moved the prototype of Starship SN1 to a launchpad in Boca Chica, Texas.
A failed prototype
The test at this assembly site is done for checking the prototype’s capability of liquid nitrogen, but it failed to handle the pressure and led to a massive blast. This was captured by SPadre.com and NASASpaceflight.com, where the videos showed Starlink blasting off the midsection and shooting upwards before falling down again.
Starship SN1 is the first series of test articles for building the perfect Starship. This was announced back in 2016, a stainless steel silo that’s 387 (118 metres) foot tall. A functional Starship can carry 100 people to space at a time in space missions. SpaceX has already got its first customer from Japan, Yusaku Maezawa a billionaire who booked his trip to the moon in one of the Starships for 2023. Musk has already unveiled a prototype called Starship Mk1 back in September 2019, which also blew its top in the cryogenic test.
