The issue is prevailing in not just the Pixel 6 community, but also among a few Pixel 3a and Pixel 4a users. The fix rolling out now is available through an update to the Google app, via PlayStore.
Fix to Pixel 6 Ghost-Dialing Issue
Google’s Pixel 6 series launched last month, is by far the best Pixel series from Google. The two handsets in it – a standard Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro – come with new Material You design, Android 12 out-of-the-box, and Google’s in-house Tensor chips as notables. But, the hype is already diminishing as the new series is plagued with significant problems. Few include slow fingerprint reading, display flickering, Material You design issues, and ghost-dialing. While Google is working to solve all of them, we may have fixes for all of them gradually. In this pursuit, we now have a solution for a ghost-dialing bug in Pixel 6 handsets. Several users have previously reported that their Pixel phones are automatically dialing to random contacts in their phone book, at random times! And this is happening frequently.
This made few users disable the “Hey Google” keyword, as they saw it could be the problem too. But, the random calls continued to happen. As the concerns are growing, Google has now come up with a solution to fix this. And this is by rolling out an update to the latest Google app (12.43.18 or higher), which bears a fix to the problem. The new version is available through Google PlayStore, and also on APKMirror. The issue is being reported in not just Pixel 6 series, but also in few Pixel 3a and the Pixel 4a handsets. So update the Google app to see the changes.
