Apple Explores Alternative Payment Options
As spotted by CoinDesk initially, Apple is looking for a Business Development Manager to handle its alternative payments section. The concerned person should be possessing at least 5+ years of experience in alternative payments like digital wallets, BNPL, Fast Payments, cryptocurrency, etc. Also, he/she should be having 6+ years of experience in business or market development. Apart from experiences, the manager should be working with Apple’s senior teams and can influence the company’s strategic plans. As it wrote, “The Apple Wallets, Payments, and Commerce (WPC) team is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to lead Alternative Payments Partnerships. We are looking for a proven professional in global alternative and emerging payment solutions.” Further, “We need your help forming partnership framework and commercial models, defining implementation paradigms, identifying key players, and managing relationships with strategic alternative payment partners. This position will be responsible for the end-to-end business development, including screening partners, negotiating and closing commercial agreements, and launching new programs.” A couple of years ago, Apple Pay’s VP Jennifer Bailey said that the company is “watching cryptocurrency” as it is “interesting.” Considering it to have a “long-term potential,” Apple may set up cryptocurrencies as one of the payment modes in its payment options for various elements like Apple Pay to Appstore’s in-app purchases.
